Network Services

Broadband Services

We offer a range of business grade Broadband services which have been selected to ensure that there is something for everyone. It’s important to mention though that not everyone can receive every type of service, and what’s available to you will depend on your local exchange.

You may have heard the term ‘Local Loop Unbundling’ or LLU. This is a process by which Comms Providers can gain direct access to the local exchange and, in effect, set up their own ‘mini exchange’ within it. But because not all exchanges have this facility, some of our customers will not be able to access LLU services and will need to use standard BT IP Stream services instead. We will be able to advise you on this up front and make recommendations as to the best available solution for your needs.

ADSL

Whether you’re looking to link multiple sites,  connect home workers to your head office, or simply download and transfer data quickly and efficiently, we have an ADSL service to suit. This includes options with up to 24Mb download speed and a 20:1 contention ratio. We also offer what is known as a ‘Bonded Broadband’ service, where we literally ‘bond’ multiple circuits to create a larger physical connection if that’s what you need.

If Voice over IP is part of your requirement we can also offer ADSL services which are Quality of Service or ‘QoS’ enabled. With these types of connections, the voice traffic is prioritised over the data traffic to ensure that the quality of the voice call is maintained and that no drop-out or ‘jitter’ occurs. A VoIP solution is idea for organisations with multiple sites, or with home workers, as all IP calls between sites are free of charge. To find out more about our VoIP solutions, please click here.

SDSL

The ‘S’ in SDSL stands for ‘Symmetric’, which means ‘the same on both sides’ -as opposed to the ‘A’ in ADSL which stands for ‘Asymmetric’. What this really means is that, with SDSL, your upstream speed is the same as your downstream speed. And what this translates to in business terms is that you can, for example, upload large files to the internet or to an FTP site at the same speed as you can download data from the Internet.

We offer two main SDSL services, 1Mb and 2Mb, with different contention ratios for each to suit your individual needs. Our 1:1 service gives you dedicated usage of the connection and offers a genuine business alternative to expensive leased lines, ideal for connections between sites where guaranteed Bandwidth and speed of data transfer is essential.

Managed Broadband

For a slightly higher monthly charge, we can also upgrade your chosen connection, whether ADSL or SDSL, to our ‘Managed Broadband’ service, also known as a ‘voice assured’ connection. This prioritises voice traffic, making it ideal for use as part of an IP Telephony solution - for example where you have home or remote workers who are using IP handsets. It also guarantees that an agreed number of simultaneous calls will be possible and that no call ‘drop out’ will occur.

The Managed Broadband service also offers higher Service Level Agreements and comes with guaranteed repair times, unlike the non-managed service which does not. Overall, it’s a robust, business-grade solution which is ideal for linking sites and supporting home or remote workers.
